Alice In Chains bassist Mike Star--more recently known for his apperance on VH-1's Celebrity Rehab has died of a drug overdose. According to TMZ.com, Starr's body was found by Salt Lake City police at around 1:42 PM Tuesday afternoon.
The troubled bassist was arrested last month for felony possession of a controlled substance. Salt Lake City police say he had six Zanax pills and painkillers when he was taken in.
Starr's father said to TMZ.com of his son's death: "It's a terrible shock and tragedy."
Starr's former band mates Jerry Cantrell and Sean Kinney--who also lost original lead singer Layne Staley to a drug overdose in 2002--released a statement offering support for his family.
"Jerry and Sean are mourning the loss of their friend and ask that the media respect their privacy -- and the privacy of Mike's family -- during this difficult time. Their thoughts & prayers are with Mike's family," it said.
